Grand Lodge of Ireland Celebrated its Tercentenary

27/07/2025

The year 2025 marks a remarkable milestone in Irish Freemasonry, as the Grand Lodge of Ireland celebrated its tercentenary, commemorating 300 years since it's founding in 1725. As the second oldest Grand Lodge in the world, the Grand Lodge of Ireland has played a central role in shaping the traditions, values, and heritage of Freemasonry both at home and abroad.

Since it's establishment in Dublin, the Grand Lodge of Ireland has been a guardian of Masonic principles, guiding lodges across the island and in many overseas jurisdictions. It has overseen the flourishing of Freemasonry in Ireland through centuries of social, cultural, and political change, always emphasising the universal values of peace, love, and harmony. These values continue to inspire generations of members who seek personal growth, brotherhood, and opportunities to serve their communities.

The celebration of 300 years is not only a reflection on history but also a recognition of the enduring strength and relevance of Freemasonry today. The Molesworth Street headquarters in Dublin stands as a proud symbol of this continuity, a place where tradition meets the present, and where lodges like Victory Lodge 478 gather in fellowship. The tercentenary will honour the countless brethren who have contributed to Irish Freemasonry's legacy, while also looking ahead to its role in an ever-changing world.

As the Grand Lodge of Ireland enters its fourth century, it remains committed to fostering inclusivity, charity, and fraternity. The tercentenary of 1725–2025 is more than a commemoration; it is a celebration of a living tradition that continues to unite men in the pursuit of integrity, service, and enlightenment.
